James Corden is being extra, and for some reason people are surprised about it.

Corden, the producer for the new Cinderella film, debuting on Amazon Prime September 3, was spotted with co-stars Camila Cabello, Idina Menzel, Billy Porter and more in the streets of Los Angeles over the weekend to promote the new film, and not everyone is impressed.

The street performance appears to be for another installment of Corden’s Crosswalk Musical, a television bit where Corden invites the cast of new movies to perform a “full-production” musical version in the middle of a busy LA intersection during red lights. Previous Crosswalk musicals have included Beauty and the Beast, Frozen 2, Aladdin, Lion King and more.

Over the weekend, Corden, Porter, Menzel and Cabello were spotted in full costume with the support of several back-up dancers as they filled the streets with Cinderella magic, that seems to have gotten lost in translation for a few viewers.

One video, posted on Twitter, shows Corden aggressively thrusting his hips while wearing a mouse costume to Jennifer Lopez’s “Let’s Get Loud.” He is immediately followed by Camila singing the line, “Ain't nobody gotta tell ya / What you gotta do,” through the driver’s side window.

“Wow,” responded a driver, who somehow managed to get it together enough to record the events.

Corden and the cast went “full-send” in the streets and are now getting criticism online from people who weren’t even there for the live performance. Guess that’s just the life of a Crosswalk Musical star….

While some were critical, others welcomed the laughs during tough times.

Cinderella premieres this Friday, September 3 via Amazon Prime.
