After two years of going virtual, the ESSENCE Festival of Culture is back for its 27th event with the theme, “It’s The Black Joy for Me.”
Taking place June 30 through July 3, the festival will return to New Orleans to provide a multi-generational experience enriched with culture, equity, and celebration, all while highlighting Black-owned businesses.
Experiences at this year’s festival will include concerts, a wellness house, food, wine & spirits festival, a gospel experience, wealth & power stage, tech summit and much more.
The ESSENCE performance lineup includes a number of today’s biggest names including Janet Jackson, Nicki Minaj, Kevin Hart, New Edition, The Isley Brothers, The Roots & Friends, Jazmine Sullivan, Summer Walker, D-Nice & Friends, Chloe x Halle with more to be announced in the coming days.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here. Proof of full Covid-19 vaccination is required to attend.
“Whether it be those that have three years of outfits reflective of the Festival tradition that was disrupted by the pandemic, or those who will have their inaugural Festival experience in 2022 , all are invited to immerse in the crown jewel of culture known as the ESSENCE Festival of Culture,” said ESSENCE CEO Caroline Wanga
“It is critical that we understand that what we deliver with this Festival—live and virtually—also impacts Black economic inclusion,” she concluded. “The ability to have those that benefit from this be Black businesses is my favorite manifestation of our 2022 Festival theme, ‘It’s The Black Joy for Me.’ See you in July.”
