After much speculation, 33-year-old Allen has officially been selected to play Springsteen in the biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere, an adaptation of the Warren Zanes book, Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska.
With the storyline centered around Springsteen’s creative journey toward his 1982 album, Nebraska, White is already working hard to make sure he portrays the rocker as accurately as possible and that includes getting to know him on a personal level.
It’s understandably been a process for White, who shared in a recent Variety interview that he initially kept his distance from Springsteen so he could process and collect his own understanding of the role before diving into the deep details. “I’m trying to have a bit of my own process,” he shared. “I wanna try to have an understanding, so when I meet him, I’ll have a bit of confidence somewhere in me to stand there.”
White revealed his confidence has grown since originally accepting the role and now, he’s working on meeting Springsteen in person, an event that’s looking like it could happen sooner rather than later. White shared that he and Springsteen have tentative plans to meet face-to-face after Springsteen’s show at Wembley Stadium in London this Saturday.
He also shared the pair have “texted and emailed” which has left fans wondering just how Springsteen texts.
“Like a Boss,” White replied. No surprises there.
