Jordan Davis is enjoying CMA week from a different perspective this year — the nominee perspective. Receiving a nod in the Musical Event of the Year category with “Buy Dirt,” featuring Luke Bryan the recognition means a whole lot to Davis, who co-wrote the song with his brother.

“Country music in my family, it runs pretty deep,” Jordan said. “Every year this [CMA Awards] is really special. I’m excited that I’m actually a part of the show this year.”
Not only part of the show, but part of it with a song featuring the host of the 55th Annual CMA Awards, Luke Bryan. We imagine asking a superstar like him to sing on a track could be a nerve-wracking process and Jordan confirms our suspicions are true…
“I actually text him the song,” Jordan explained to Audacy’s Coop sharing how he went about the big ask. “Kinda told him how much it meant to me… and luckily, he was all about it. He wanted to do it with me.”
He continued, “I was pretty nervous sending that text over. You don’t want to be the guy that just peddles songs to one of the biggest names in the genre. I was on pins and needles.”
It all turned out well for Jordan, who is now seeing the song take over TikTok as fans share their own “Buy Dirt” experiences using the song’s chorus.
“There’s a girl that we’re actually following along in different parts,” Jordan said of one of his favorite fan TikToks. “She has the ‘Buy Dirt’ and it showed them buying a house and then I think it showed them at like, church and I think we’re waiting on to see if he’s going to propose.” Hah! No pressure ;)
“So it’s actually like a to be continued which has been pretty cool to kind of follow along with. I hope it works out good for her.” We do too!
