Apple TV's new comedy horror series, Widow's Bay, stars British actress Kate O’Flynn. Known for her performance in the National Theatre's production of Port, for which she received a Critics' Circle Theatre Award in 2013, as well as starring roles in the plays A Taste of Honey and The Glass Menagerie, for which she was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in 2017. O'Flynn has had recurring TV roles in Everyone Else Burns, Landscapers, and My Lady Jane.

Widow’s Bay tells the story of Mayor Tom Loftis, who is desperate to revive his struggling community. There’s no Wi-Fi, spotty cellular reception, and he must contend with superstitious locals who believe their island is cursed. Unfortunately, the locals were right. After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again, and now everyone is caught in the middle.
Kate O’Flynn, who plays Patricia, the Major’s right-hand in the series, sat down with Romeo International for an Audacy exclusive on what and why Widow's Bay is the place to be or maybe not.
When you jumped into this, what did you fall in love with first, the character, the writing, or the cast?
"The writing. And the character. I mean, they're sort of together, aren't they? But like the writing, it was such a funny script, and the world was so brilliantly drawn. You don't always read scripts and laugh out loud, and with this one, it was just expertly done. Of course, it was. It was Katie Dippold and her amazing team. And then, of course, Hiro Murai attached to it. And then, of course, Matthew Rhys leading it, Stephen Root, Dale Dickey, Jeff Hiller, Kevin Carroll. You know, it's like it was like a dream, an absolute no-brainer for me."
