Kelly Clarkson woke up and said, welcome to my post-divorce era, dropping not one, but two breakup songs, “mine” and “me,” from her upcoming album chemistry, arriving June 23.

“The pair of songs perfectly compliment and contrast, showcasing the lyrical complexity featured on the project three years in the making,” the official press release statement divulged. Not to mention they’re both totally and completely, though not confirmed to be, about her ex Brandon Blackstock. And she's not holding back... just sayin'.

“Having chemistry with someone is an incredible, and overwhelming, feeling. It’s like you have no choice in the matter. You are just drawn to each other. This can be good and bad. This album takes you down every path that chemistry could lead you down,” Kelly shared in the statement.

Alright enough, let’s discuss the tracks.

First up we have “mine,” with “soaring vocals and a mounting instrumental, Clarkson lyrically honest-as-ever” sings “go ahead and break my heart, that’s fine” before craving karmic retribution.

Meanwhile Kelly’s focus shifts inward on “me,” described as “a triumphant anthem of self-empowerment co-written with GRAMMY-nominated rising star GAYLE.” The song’s message “proves equally intimate and universal,” with lyrics like, “don’t need to need somebody when I’ve got me.”

As Kelly also shared, dropping both songs together was a methodical choice that just made sense, “We decided to release ‘mine’ and ‘me’ at the same time because I didn’t want to release just one song to represent an entire album, or relationship,” the singer expressed. “There are many stages of grief and loss on this album. Each song is a different stage and emotional state.”

Kelly first announced chemistry was on the way last month alongside news of an exclusive Las Vegas show, chemistry… an intimate night with Kelly Clarkson, at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Set to start Friday, July 28 and run through August 19. For more information and to purchase tickets — click HERE.
