The sky is the limit when it comes to Luke Combs and the 33-year-old has proven it as he skyrocketed up the charts with his latest single, a cover of the Tracy Chapman classic, “Fast Car.”
Combs has introduced the song to an entirely new audience as he gave it his own Country flair, while keeping the same nostalgic undertones brought to it by original artist and songwriter, Tracy Chapman.
The re-make has helped make history in more ways than one as it earned Chapman a #1 in the Country genre, making her one part of a small group of Black women with writing credits on a number 1 Country single.
Additionally, as the song sat in the #2 spot, with Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” sitting #1, it marked the first time in more than 42 years that songs on Country radio occupied the top two spots simultaneously.
