Combs was made aware of the teacher’s supply needs when she tagged him on Twitter as part of the #ClearTheList trend on social media. The current trend encourages individuals to show their support for educators by purchasing items on teachers’ individualized Amazon wishlist, shared via social media posts.
“Hi @lukecombs!” Kirk, who happens to teach in Combs’ home state of North Caroline wrote. ”I wanted to reach out and see if you wanted to support an Appalachian Alumni with her teacher Amazon wishlist! I teach kindergarten in NC and could use some help with #clearthelist. Appreciate the support!”
Combs replied to Kirk’s tweet the same day writing, “Cleared it for ya. Good luck to your students and GO APPS!”
Kirk praised Combs for being a class act after the kind gesture writing, “I feel so lucky that he did this for my incoming students!! Saying 'thank you' just doesn't seem like enough!”
