Maren Morris’ third studio album, Humble Quest, is not even a week old, but our obsession level is already so high! While we’re busy thanking Maren for an incredible body of work, she credits the last few years of her life for humbling her and ultimately giving her the inspiration for the album.

“Humble Quest… I feel like it fit the journey of what I’ve gone through in the last two years,” Maren told Audacy’s Rob + Holly. “I feel like I was very humbled by the pandemic, by becoming a mother for the first time, by having touring taken away for two years. There was just a lot of growth and change and falling apart and coming back together… This is my journey through that.”
While in the process of reflecting on what it means to be humble, Morris was naturally guided to reflect back on her youth and be reminded of where she started her quest.
“I just posted this video last night of me at 14 on stage,” Maren laughed. “I’m 14 years old and I’m plugging my CD that’s coming out that week. You know, since I’ve been doing this since I was a kid.”

She continued, “It’s just so funny how full circle — things are so different, but things are exactly the same. I’m still that same person, just awkward and trying to be on stage.”
While Maren seemingly would be welcomed onto any performance stage, there’s one she has her eye on that she hasn’t quite conquered yet.
“I grew up doing musical theatre, so my bucket list dream would be to do like a 3-month stint on Broadway in a musical,” Maren shared. “Maybe after this record is out and I’m done touring I could audition for Broadway or something.”
We have no doubt Maren can make it happen, so now the question is — what role will she play?
“My dream would be to play Elphaba in Wicked… that’s the top of the mountain, but anything they would throw at me I would be honored.”
Sounds like Maren already has her next quest ready to go! Hear more about Maren’s latest album release and dreams of performing on Broadway on this week’s Friday Night Takeover with Rob and Holly.
