The new year represented an opportunity to get reacquainted with some old friends. Just like us, Maren Morris admitted she couldn’t help but tear up while watching the HBO Max Special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.

Morris is a self-professed Harry Potter lover and couldn’t wait to dig in and catch the reunion. “I watched it on New Year’s Day so I didn’t waste any time,” she told Audacy’s Coop.
As for her thoughts on it? “Oh my gosh, I cried through most of it,” she said.
“It was so beautiful I think they did an incredible job bringing the whole cast together. It was so bittersweet though because it’s such a part of our growing up, but there’s so many people from it that passed away.”
Morris’ concluding thoughts summarized what we were feeling so well. “I was bawling my eyes out throughout the last half of it, but it was so good.”
Morris also touched on her latest single “Circles Around This Town,” a song that made her fall in love with music again.
“Writing ‘Circles Around This Town’ felt like the first time I got the song back after writing it and being like, ‘OK, this is the direction. This is what’s inspiring to me right now,’” she said.
“‘Circles Around This Town’ was me reminding myself how lucky and how much I love doing music.”
