"To be an Audacy 'LAUNCH' artist means the world to me," King shares. "I'm a kid that grew up listening to Country radio. I think anybody that wants to make music a career, especially in Country music, dreams of having a song on the radio. And so just to know that, you know, Audacy's taking a shot on me and and basically putting this in front of a ton of people is incredible."
"I am a kid from Fayetteville, Georgia, born and raised just south of Atlanta by about an hour. Grew up on the traditional Country radio station, that my grandma had playing. She had a little radio station in her kitchen cabinet, that we would always listen to while she cooked. I grew up on all that. And then I grew up with my dad handing me an iPod full of Indie and Alternative Rock for Christmas one year. And so I basically took my two favorite influences: the traditional Country I grew up with and then all the weird stuff my dad loves, and I mixed it together."
"The story behind 'Get to Drinkin' is essentially how, you know, a little bit of optimism and a whole lot of alcohol can sort of change the way you view the past," explains King. "I think for me, in my positions with past relationships, it seems to be that memories only kind of flood back when you're into a couple Jack and Cokes. And so this was really an attempt for me to paint an honest portrayal about you looking at the past in a little bit better light than it maybe was."
