Meryl Streep is no stranger when it comes to transforming her look for a role.
In a new photo posted by Ryan Murphy from the set of his new Netflix film, “The Prom,” the 71-year-old looks almost unrecognizable with vibrant red hair.
The Oscar-winning actress sported a short wig with fringed bangs in the front. She topped off the look with a bold red lip that matches her hair and shawl.
“Meet the incredible icon-packed cast of Netflix’s THE PROM,” the “American Horror Story” creator wrote on Instagram alongside the photo.
“A group of true troopers who buckled up and finished shooting during COVID so we could give everybody an inspirational aspirational story that we all need right now. Christmas is right around the corner…,” he added.
The film features a star-studded cast! Late night host, James Corden, is seen sitting next to Streep.
Nicole Kidman and Kerry Washington are also pictured along with Keegan-Michael Key.
While there’s no set release date for the film, Murphy notes it would be available to stream around the holidays.
“The Prom” is an upcoming musical based on a Broadway musical of the same name in which Streep’s Dee Dee Allen partners with Corden’s Barry Glickman in a musical about First Lady Eleanour Roosevelt. The production flops and threatens to end their career due to the bad reviews. To turn their luck around, they decide to invest in a charity and find Emma Nolan, a lesbian senior who is forbidden from taking her girlfriend to prom, in need of their help.
Streep has previously gone to great lengths to bring some of her iconic roles to life including Miranda Priestley in “The Devil Wears Prada,” Donna on “Mamma Mia,” and Mary Louise Wright on “Big Little Lies.”
