Just like most 8-year-old's, Benjamin Dougherty-King was shocked when he found out that he would not be having a birthday party this year -- but he would be going to Disney for the first time. Little did he know the second part of his birthday surprise would last all weekend long!
It all started when Benjamin's mom, Suni, picked him up early from school for what he thought would be a dentist appointment. Before leaving, someone at the school's front desk handed him a box (which Suni planted) filled with tons of Disney goodies along with a card that told him about the trip.
The following day, Benjamin donned his special "Disney Birthday Boy" shirt and headed off with mom, dad and his two brothers to the Magic Kingdom where part two of the surprise was about to be revealed. Suni had arranged to have Benjamin's friends (who all have annual passes) surprise him at the park throughout the weekend wearing matching "Birthday Squad" shirts to celebrate!
Suni tells Radio.com that Benjamin is their foster son who they adopted when he was just nine-months-old. "He is the sweetest, most compassionate and grateful little boy I've ever met. He has blessed our family so much."
We bet it'll be tough for mom and dad to beat this birthday surprise next year!
