'Monty Python' Star Terry Jones Dies at 77

“Monty Python” star Terry Jones has passed away at the age of 77. Jones was also a successful director, screenwriter, and author.

Jones’ agent says he died on Tuesday evening. His family revealed in a statement that he passed “after a long, extremely brave but always good humored battle with a rare form of dementia, FTD,” AP reports.

His family continued, “We have all lost a kind, funny, warm, creative, and truly loving man whose uncompromising individuality, relentless intellect, and extraordinary humor has given pleasure to countless millions across six decades.”

Jones was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2016.

Jones formed Monty Python’s Flying Circus in 1969 alongside Eric idle, John Cleese, Michael Palin, Graham Chapman, and Terry Gilliam. They were a troupe that made its mark in British comedy. The troupe led Jones to his appearances in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” as well as “The Life of Brian.”
