Telling stories of how songs like “Puppet on a String” came together by merging the best of two different songs “about the same ex” so it worked out, she also touched on her obsession with Julia Michaels, who she’s yet to have the pleasure of meeting. Plus, how important it was for her to go to college, despite always knowing she wanted to be a singer.
While her famous mom, TV personality Brooke Burke, told her to just go for it, her father, a doctor, who “went to school for so long,” told her “you always need a back up plan.”
“He knew how hard I work,” NERIAH continued, “for me that’s kinda been my thing, in a room, like no one will outwork me, that something since I was little is probably my strongest quality.”
During that discussion with her dad, “he was like ‘look if you go to college, and if you graduate a year early and get straight As, I will believe you that you can do this.” And that’s exactly what she did.
NERIAH also shared some deets about her debut album and more. To hear it all check out the entire interview above.
