NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- As Florence batters North Carolina, help is headed down from New York.
As WCBS 880's Steve Burns reported, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he wants to repay the assistance his state received when it faced natural disasters in the past.
"We have been helped by our neighbor states in an extraordinary way," Cuomo said.
Fifty National Guard airmen are headed down to Raleigh-Durham with another 100 on standby.
Two Black Hawk helicopters are also making the trip, equipped with a month's worth of medical supplies.
"As people have been there for us, we want to be there for them," Cuomo said.
Cuomo has talked with North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper.
"I said, again, anything you need, whenever you need it, New York is here – ready, willing, and able to help," Cuomo said.
The New York City Urban Search and Rescue has also been sent to North Carolina.
