“You get to be a little more real… and uninhibited,” he told Carton & Roberts. “That’s the same form where you just get to be open and real. That intimate form where I don’t have to dress up, I don’t have to put on the put on the fancy suits or watch my mouth. On TV, it’s more buttoned up.”

Cannon concluded, “I’m a music lover, I’m a musician, I’m D.J., really back to my roots. The fact that we’re focusing on throwbacks and it’s like the golden era of Hip Hop. It’s a little bit more of who I am in the everyday practice.”

As a public figure, Cannon shared that he has learned from radio talent that it is important to share personal aspects of his life. “I’ve learned from guys like you, the good, the bad… just lean into it. We’re all human, they’re human experiences that somebody is going to be able to relate,” said Cannon.
“Broadcasting in general, I value it. It’s the most intimate form of entertainment and communication.”

As a father of soon-to-be, eight children, Cannon’s plate has been stacked between his career and kids. He joked that he is practically a father to “the whole nation!” On Father’s Day, Cannon jokes, “hopefully that’s a day that I’m receiving. Every other day is expensive! I’ll get a lot of macaroni necklaces and construction paper string art.”

In terms of having more kids Cannon says, “I mean I don’t know? We should take a bet. Right now, I’m good, but never say never.”
