One of TV's most iconic couples is headed to the big screen.
Nicole Kidman is reportedly in talks to play Lucille Ball in Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming film titled “Being the Ricardos.”
Actor Javier Bardem is also in talks to star opposite Kidman as Ball’s on-and-offscreen husband, Desi Arnaz.
Deadline reports that the film will focus on the relationship between the “I Love Lucy” stars and is set during a single production week of the iconic sitcom.
The outlet notes it will start with a Monday table read and run all the way through Friday’s filming in front of a live audience, while showing the couple facing a crisis that could “end their careers and another that could end their marriage.”
Sorkin, who penned the script, will also direct the film from Amazon Studios.
Initially, Cate Blanchett was rumored to play the role of the Hollywood icon, however, once Sorkin committed to directing, Kidman and Bardem expressed interest.
The casting is not official as no deals have been signed.
With COVID-19 pandemic delays continuing to impact Hollywood, it’s unclear when production on the film would begin. It is currently listed in “pre-production” on IMDB.
Sorkin has a great deal of projects under his belt including the most recent Netflix release “The Trial of the Chicago 7.” His other hits include “The Social Network,” along with TV shows “The West Wing” and “The Newsroom.”
Kidman hasn’t slowed down in the past few years with her most notable roles as Grace Fraser in “The Undoing,” and Celeste Wright in HBO’s “Big Little Lies.” In 2021, she will star as Masha in Hulu’s “Nine Perfect Strangers” and Queen Gudrun in “The Northman.”
Meanwhile, Bardem most recently starred in “The Roads Not Taken.” He will also appear in “Dune,” “Bride of Frankenstein,” and will star as King Triton in Disney’s live-action adaptation of “The Little Mermaid.”
