Nicole Kidman’s latest role might be about a legendary comedian, but she strolled onto the film’s premiere red carpet like a fashion queen.
“Being the Ricardos” is the latest vehicle for Kidman, and in it she plays television icon Lucille Ball.

While she told Variety that playing Ball was “frightening, but incredibly exciting,” She definitely looked on the excited end of that spectrum when she dazzled at the film's premiere.
As Today reported, Kidman, 54, lit up the step-and-repeat in a strapless, sequined, champagne ballgown from Armani Privé. Her ruby red lipstick rocketed off her usual perfect porcelain skin. She completed her outfit with shoes from Jimmy Choo.

Later, Kidman went right to Instagram to post some lovely shots of herself and the cast on the red carpet, saying simply, “So happy to be here xx.”
The new film is a different kind of biopic. It tells the story of a particularly trying week for Ball and her husband, Desi Arnaz, who also played her TV husband, Ricky Ricardo, on their groundbreaking sitcom, “I Love Lucy.” Arnaz is played by actor Javier Bardem.
Between creating their iconic show, keeping their tumultuous relationship afloat, and fending off accusations of being Communists during the height of the Red Scare, the film exposes the deep drama that went on behind the hilarious pratfall-filled scenes of their classic sitcom.

Upon the announcement of the casting for “Being the Ricardos,” both actors took internet jabs from fans who didn’t think the actors looked enough like them. But by all accounts and critical previews, the two great actors inhabit their characters fully, and you can bet you’ll see them mentioned around awards time.
The New York Post raved about Kidman's perfomance as Ball, saying: "The actress is sensational in the part — and is doing the finest work of her career."
Kidman herself walked away from the job feeling even more respect for Lucy.
“I fell in love with her as I was reading the script,” said Kidman. “I realized what she was doing (was) trailblazing for women.”
Quizzical fans be damned, when Bardem first saw Kidman on the set, he told Sunday Today host Willie Geist, "I was doing my test with wardrobe, the hair, the makeup, and then she came in ... and there was a silence. They really nailed the look of Lucy Ricardo, no?"

“Being the Ricardos” will arrive in select theaters on December 10, before streaming on Amazon Prime Video starting December 21.
