Her manager, Ellen Lubin Sanitsky, release a statement, writing: "But for us, our pride is in who she was in addition to acting; a person who made elaborate cakes for friends, sewed curtains for first apartments and showed us how to be kind, loving and forgiving in an often harsh world.”
Post’s former co-stars took to social media to honor the late actress.
Melissa Joan Hart, who co-starred along Post in “Holiday in Handcuffs,” wrote: "I'm heartbroken to lose an angel here on earth! My dear friend and TV mother #MarkiePost is finally at rest after a long hard battle with cancer.”
“Her example to me of how to be gracious, professional, find the fun in life and be a great mother at the same time will always live in me. I am heartbroken but I know she is at peace. Now this angel on earth gets to spread her wings and be an angel to us all from above. Love you so much Markie! You will be forever missed,” she added.
Sophia Bush, who played Post’s TV daughter on the NBC drama “Chicago PD,” also paid tribute on Instagram Story.
"I am just heartbroken to heart about the passing of my friend, scene partner (she was a phenom) and forever Bunny, #MarkiePost. Too soon," she wrote alongside a photo of the two of them.
In a separate post, she reminisced about working with the TV icon: “Markie was the kind of set momma who made you feel invincible and gave you permission to be vulnerable and tender. I’ll never forget that mystical power. That rare duality,” she wrote.
Hilarie Burton Morgan, who starred opposite Markie in “Christmas on the Bayou,” and was also Bush’s co-star on “One Tree Hill,” chimed in as well.
“Devastated just isn’t a strong enough word. To know Markie Post was to fall head over heels in love with her,” she wrote before diving into some memories from their time on set and the friendship that they built.
Post’s acting career began in 1979. Some of her early work includes “The Love Boat,” “Cheers” and “Fantasy Island.” She also starred in “The Fall Guy,” “Odd Man Out” and “Something About Mary.” Her final TV appearance was in an episode of 2019’s “Soundtrack.”
Deadline notes she is survived by her husband Michael A. Ross, her daughters Kate Armstrong Ross and Daisy Schoenborn, her son-in-law Bryce Schoenborn and a five-month-old granddaughter.
