Nivea’s star was rising amid the early 2000s, however despite her early successes and making waves on the charts with bops such as “Don’t Mess with My Man,” and “Laundromat,” it was her love life that took the driver's seat.

During a recent visit to Kandi Burress’ YouTube show On That Note, the R&B singer revealed rather interesting details about her relationship with Lil Wayne, which at the time grabbed just as much attention as Nivea’s music.

According to Nivea, after seeing her music video for the 2002 hit “Don’t Mess With My Man,” Weezy decided to shoot his shot by hitting up her label under the preface of wanting to collaborate. However, shortly after admitted his ulterior motives when they met.

Wanye let it be known that he had one vision for their relationship and and as their relationship blossomed he eventually persuaded her to leave the music industry and live with him in NOLA during the height of her career. “He said, ‘Come be with me. I got you,’” Nivea shared, noting that she even sent a letter to her label stating that she would be stepping away from her contract.

Despite the seemingly romantic gesture, not long after that Wayne ended up moving his high school sweetheart, Toya Johnson, into his home and marrying her two years later, only to divorce two years after that.

Nivea went on to marry singer and songwriter The-Dream in 2004, however the two divorced just four years later. Shortly after Nivea and Wayne rekindled their romance and she became pregnant with their son Neal Carter in 2009.

Nevertheless once again, all wasn’t as it seemed, simultaneously while Nivea was carrying Wayne’s child, so was actress and model Lauren London, who was also pregnant with the rappers son Kam.

Despite the troublesome series of events, Nivea admitted there was no bad blood between them, then or now. And that the two actually became close friends and helped each other out through their pregnancies. “She really helped me through my pregnancy,” Nivea said. “We really leaned on each other, and we both had a history with Wayne in our younger years, so it was connecting in many different ways.”

While this blast from the past update sent social media spiraling, the ladies involved kept things classy. Sharing a post of the interview on her Instagram, Nivea received high praises for honesty during the candid convo from both London and Wayne’s ex-wife Toya. Taking to the comments section London wrote, “Love you. You are pure magic and strength.” While Toya said, “Great Interview. So proud of you.” Additionally, Reginae Carter, Wayne's daughter with Toya also came through in the comments, writing, “I just love you so much. One of the strongest people I know.”
