After the trailer for the upcoming third installment of the animated film franchise Trolls hinted at a boy band reunion storyline for Justin Timberlake’s character Branch.
It has since been reported that "JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick are expected to have surprise roles in the film, Trolls Band Together,” alongside Justin Timberlake, "in addition to recording a new song for the soundtrack,” or at least so says Entertainment Tonight.
While the Trolls Band Together trailer does seem to tease the connection between Branch's character and Timberlake's real-life boy band past, it is revealed that the group called BroZone in the film, was made up of Branch and his four brothers -- played by Troye Sivan, Kid Cudi, Daveed Diggs and Eric André, all of whom have musical chops. So there's that.
Additionally, neither DreamWorks nor Universal, has yet to confirm or comment on whether this news of an *NSYNC reunion is fact or fiction. However, we remain hopeful.
Anyway, the Trolls Band Together plot goes as follows — When one brother, Floyd (Sivan), is kidnapped, John Dory (André) tracks Branch down to help reunite the group and save their brother. "Branch, we’re out of sync," Floyd tells his brother in the trailer, a not-so-subtle reference to JT’s boy band connections. "We've gone from boys to men, and now there's only one direction for us to go: to the back streets,” the character continues, sprinkling in a few unrelated others
Guess we'll just have to wait and see if an *NSYNC reunion is really in the books, or rather movies. Until then, check out the Trolls Band Together trailer below.
