After sharing how his love of music began at holiday family gatherings, October broke down how he got connected with Snoop Dogg, who signed the singer to Death Row Records.
“I was a week away from graduating from truck driving school, I was done with music," he explained. "And a friend of mine back home in South Bend, he knew a person that knew Jazze Pha. So Jazze Pha was on his way to link up with Snoop, which I didn’t know, and I sent him some music… I sent him some rap stuff, but I also sent him a song called ‘Color Blind.’”
London continued, “He was like ‘Snoop this kid sent me some music, you wanna hear it?’" to which Snoop said why not. “And he played ‘Color Blind,' and Snoop was like ‘Yo, where is he at?’” After finding out October was in Indiana, which actually surprised Snoop quite a bit, “he called me two nights before the Super Bowl and that was it.”
Discussing October’s most recent album, The Rebirth of Marvin, which has spent 15 at the Top of the iTunes chart, seven of which were at No.1. London alluded to the word GRAMMY being tossed around, which he’d obviously be very much about.
He also revealed his single status, and confirmed that despite being called “pumpkin” by the newly also single Tamar Braxton, the two are just “homies.”
October also shared his favorite 50 years of Hip-Hop memory that involves his label head Snoop, plus his thoughts on Keefe D and more. Listen to the entire interview above.
