Who knew when that Ford De Luxe flew off into the sky at the end of “Grease” that its inhabitants would still “go together” 40+ years later?

The main stars of the beloved musical, Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta, have indeed remained close friends over the years, and the latest proof came over the weekend.

As Today reported, Travolta posted an Instagram shot of him and his two kids, Ella, 21, and son Benjamin, 11, decked out in holiday party finery. “Happy New Year everyone,” he captioned the photo.

Newton-John commented shortly after, “Ella you look stunning and classy! The dress is gorgeous. Wishing you and Ben and Dad a Healthy happy New Year.”

Fans of the movie musical classic must’ve gotten the feels hard, as Newton-John’s comment got over 1,500 likes to date, and counting.

The two actors haven’t shied away from revisiting their legendary characters. They gathered at a “Grease” 40th anniversary event in Los Angeles in 2018. And in 2019, they even dressed up in that ‘50s look for a “Meet n’ ‘Grease’” singalong event in West Palm Beach, Florida.

But their friendship goes beyond fun nostalgic meet-ups. Travolta checked in on Newton-John in 2017, soon after she was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time.

“He’s been wonderful. He calls and checks up on me,” she said to Today at the time. “He came to one of my shows – right before this happened, actually, right before my diagnosis. I saw him, and I was hobbling around the dinner table because I was having trouble sitting down. And he was concerned. He called me up with some ideas of people to see. He's a good friend.”
