This song is fire... no, but like literally.

After hearing “good 4 u," the third single from Rodrigo, as we patiently wait for her debut album SOUR to arrive on May 21, her prowess and pride as a songwriter is never more apparent. Honestly, these lyrics tell a story, and it's tea time from start to finish.

I mean, first of all there's this: “Well, good for you, I guess you moved on really easily / You found a new girl and it only took a couple weeks / Remember when you said that you wanted to give me the world?”

And then there’s THIS: “And good for you, I guess that you've been workin' on yourself / I guess that therapist I found for you, she really helped / Now you can be a better man for your brand new girl.”

Oh and also, here's the chorus: "Well, good for you, you look happy and healthy / Not me, if you ever cared to ask / Good for you, you're doin' great out there without me / Baby, God, I wish that I could do that / I’ve lost my mind, I've spent the night cryin' on the floor of my bathroom/ But you're so unaffected, I really don't get it / But I guess good for you.”

Well… you get the point. Babygirl came for the gold and snatched it right up. “good 4 u,” not only delivers on so many levels both melodically and lyrically, but also visually, which brings us to our next point.

Directed by one of our personal faves Petra Collins, the video, while original in concept, borrows sentiments from some of our millennial go-to cult classics. A bit of Bring It On, sprinkled with some “…Baby One More Time” gymnasium choreo formation references, mixed with Jennifer’s Body vibes - for a perfect mix of sweet but psycho, that feels right on brand for little Miss Liv, and we mean that as the highest of compliments.

The song itself brought us back to the days when we had our iPod playing "7 Things" by Miley Cyrus and "Potential Breakup Song" by Aly & AJ on repeat (yes, iPod). And also made us remember the boy bashing era of Fefe Dobson, who hasn’t been top of mind since about ’09. And if you’re a real one, you just got hella triggered by that reference, but like in a good way.

But okay, back to the little lady of the hour - Olivia, has truly hit the nail on the head with this one. And after delivering us two mostly melancholy yet catchy ballads, she has finally served up that Alanis Morissette angst she promised, with a side of latex gloves and poms poms no less.
