LISTEN NOW: Behind The Setlist - Papa Roach
Known for the metal anthems "Last Resort" and "Scars," Papa Roach is an enduring figure in the turn-of-the-century nu-metal scene. The band's 2000 album, Infest, went triple-platinum in the U.S. on the strength of "Last Resort." That was followed by Lovehatetragedy in 2002 and Getting Away with Murder in 2004.
Their concerts are a non-stop barrage that covers the band's twenty-plus years. So, when it came to putting together the setlist for their tour starting this summer, how did they go about it?
When discussing how they keep up that pace to their shows through certain setlist selections the process was as you’d expect. “We just wanna get up there and smash.” And the way they do that is to “whip out all the hits and cult classics and fan favorites.” And while “there’ll be a deep cut here and there… right now it’s just all killer.”
Also up for discussion, the duo discuss how their music affects their fans, their stage show, maturing, starting their own record label and what t-shirt sells best on tour. Listen to the entire conversation in the episode above.
