Pepperdine University's class of 2018 had a graduation ceremony for the birds.
On Saturday, a pair of pelicans interrupted the graduation, video of which was captured by Grant Dillon, the school's staff videographer.
"I was already filming when the pelicans landed. All I had to do was spin my camera around and keep filming," Dillon said. "No one is sure why they flew in. Apparently, it's never happened before in Pepperdine's history."
Dillon said after the first two pelicans crashed the ceremony, he turned back to continue filming the graduation itself. The birds, however, remained feisty and scared some students.
"I continued to hear and see pelicans doing further antics with the crowd," he said. "I don't think anyone was hurt but I'm not sure. I've seen several students comment online that they were terrified and that they thought the pelicans looked like dinosaurs. I feel for them, but to me, it was simply hilarious."
After the pelicans were removed from the ceremony, graduation continued as planned.
