NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – If you lost an engagement ring on a bus in Brooklyn a decade ago, a Long Island reporter may have something for you.
Laura Albanese, a sports reporter at Newsday, is trying to finish a story that began for her more than 10 years ago when she found the lost ring.
She tried to find the owner on what was then a more primitive internet. She went on message boards but to no avail.
Fast forward to 2018, when Albanese heard about another long-lost engagement ring that was reunited with its owner.
"That kind of pinged in my head, 'Oh wow, I have a ring, I haven't done anything in the last couple years to find the owner, and because of my job I have pretty big Twitter following. So let me just give it a shot," she said.
Albanese is now using her end-of-year vacation time to complete this labor of love.
"It belongs to the person who lost it, so I'd love to find her," she said.
