Run the Jewels Drop Surprise 'RTJ4' Featuring 2 Chainz, Zach de la Rocha, and More

Why wait?
By , Audacy

Two days ahead of its scheduled release, Run the Jewels dropped their long awaited album Run the Jewels 4, because why not? And frankly, their take on the narrative is something we all need to hear, especially right now.

The duo made the surprise announcement on social media, “F*** it, why wait. The world is infested with bulls*** so here’s something raw to listen to while you deal with it all. We hope it brings you some joy. Stay safe and hopeful out there and thank you for giving 2 friends the chance to be heard and do what they love.”

Killer Mike and El-P packed the album with tracks made to rattle even the most self-designated woke of us out of contentment. The album is stacked with features including 2 Chainz, Pharrell Williams, Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, gospel icon Mavis Staples, and recurring collaborator Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine.

A follow-up to their 2016 release Run the Jewels 3, RTJ4 is also available online to download for free, however this time, with the option and encouragement to donate to the National Lawyers Guild Mass Defense Fund.

During these unprecedented times, Killer Mike has been using his influence and voice to speak up - as Americans across the country continue to protest police killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and countless others. Recently he gave an emotional speech to protesters in his hometown of Atlanta, and further discussed his comments on the protests against racism and police violence on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert by saying, “all I said was what was purely on my heart.”
