Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour New Orleans night 2 crowd got themselves one short n’ sweet surprise during Saturday night’s show when Sabrina Carpenter joined her friend on stage for a super special mashup.

During the acoustic portion of the night -- before she began -- Taylor explained to the crowd she’d be switching things up, opting to go with a track outside of her discography. “I'm gonna sing a song that's not mine, but it's somebody that I really love,” she told the crowd about the evening's surprise song. “It’s been stuck in my head, and I just it would make me feel good if I knew 65,000 other people had the song stuck in their head, just like I do.”

She then, to the obvious delight of all in attendance, delved right into the first verse of her former tour opener’s #1 hit song, “Espresso,” afterwards taking a brief pause to express how “proud” she is of all of her friend’s success. Swift then took the surprise up a notch and called the singer up in the middle of the show, asking, “Is it OK if I call her, and you guys can say hi?”

While it was a bit hard to hear their conversation due to the multitude of screaming fans and all, Swift attempted, in a very unserious manner, to shush the crowd. Putting Carpenter on speakerphone, holding her phone up to the mic, Swift tried to carry out the “unplanned” but very obviously planned convo with Sabrina, eventually asking her how long it might take her to get to Louisiana’s Caesars Superdome.

As it turns out, the trip wasn’t long at all, because about five seconds later Sabrina appeared onstage, taking the surprise up about a million notches, into the stratosphere.

Joining Tay-Tay, to the roar of an understandably elated crowd, Sabrina strutted down the catwalk in a little white babydoll teddy and sparkly heals. Joined by Swift, guitar in hand, donning the orange iteration of her pleated high-low gown for the first time, the two continued to Tay’s usual surprise song spot. Together, the duo sang a three-song mashup of “Espresso,” Swift’s 1989 vault track “Is It Over Now?” and Carpenter’s other #1 hit, “Please Please Please,” and we may never fully recover from the supremacy of this joint slay.

Side bar — can we all get a little commotion and a justified moment of freak-out for what will now and forever live rent-free in our heads? Which is Taylor Swift singing the “Espresso” lyrics, “I’m working late ‘cause I’m a singer” to a sold-out stadium at around 11PM, during one of her last few shows of her nearly two-year-long World Tour!

That being said, Tay was clearly more concerned with Sabrina’s busy schedule, saying, “She has literally one day off. She is on tour. This is crazy that she came to perform for us,” at the end of their crowd-pleasing duet. She then bid Carpenter adieu, and continued the acoustic piano portion of the evening on her own, playing a mashup of Midnights bonus song “Hits Different” and 1989 opener “Welcome to New York.”

After the show, to commemorate the moment, Sabrina took to social to share a sweet sentiment alongside a series of clips and pics. Writing, “only stage i’d ever wanna see on a day off !!!! thank you for working late, thank you for being a singer and thank you for having me🤍 @taylorswift i love you!!,” in the post’s caption.
