'Jurassic Park' Star Sam Neill Performs Groovy 'Uptown Funk' Cover On Ukulele

A ukulele has never sounded so funky

Sam Neill may have made his claim to fame by starring as Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park, but his efforts on social media during quarantine may soon overshadow his already prestigious acting career.

Neill has been treating his Twitter followers to ukulele covers of songs from the likes of Radiohead, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and Randy Newman.

His latest effort takes a contemporary approach as Neill told fans, “some songs just get you straight in the heart... this is my version, I’ll try not to cry,” before performing the Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson hit “Uptown Funk.”

It’s not just ukulele covers you’ll find if you decide to follow Neill on Twitter, though that is certainly an acceptable reason for doing so. The actor has developed several different series while self-isolating at home.

“Cooking With Sam” sees Neill taking on the role of chef as he teaches you to make some of his favorite recipes. In the two episodes he’s released so far, Neill has shown fans how to make beef bourguignon, tarte tatin, and duck a l’orange.

His other series “Cinema Quarantino” features Neill and Australian actor David Wenham (participating from a safe distance) in comedic skits. The duo creates lighthearted scenarios that play off social distancing and events that occur while self-isolating.

Neill is perhaps the most creative person to follow during this time of quarantine as you never really know what you’re going to get next. Take the Game Of Thrones parody Game Of Gnomes video he put out below as a prime example.

One thing is certain, Neill is set to reunite with Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum for Jurassic World: Dominion tentatively scheduled for a 2021 release.
