Returning to judge the next round of competition will be Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. All three judges have been with the show since it moved to ABC from Fox six seasons ago.
Also returning will be host Ryan Seacrest, who has been with the show all 21 seasons since its premiere in 2002.
Singers interested in auditioning for the show’s 22nd season can sign up beginning August 4 with the return of the show’s virtual search, “Idol Across America,” which found last year’s winner, Hawaii-native, Iam Tongi.
Tongi wow’d judges and fans from the very beginning with his audition, where he sang James Blunt’s “Monsters.” The 18-year-old dedicated the emotional performance to his late father who passed only a couple months before the audition.
