Before kicking off a round of trivia where Glen Close channeled her inner GoGo with "Da Butt" and before anything got the perfect opening/closing score, the multihyphenate rocked a pair of gold crocs we need ASAP. But before we dive into that, did you know the 2021 Oscars had a dress code?!
According to Deadline, the award show's producers, Steven Soderbergh, Stacey Sher and Jesse Collins, sent a letter to all the nominees detailing the plan for the in-person ceremony plus a few rules. Since Zooming in wasn't an option, going "casual" also was frowned upon. The notice stated, "you’re wondering about the Dress Code (as well you should). We’re aiming for a fusion of Inspirational and Aspirational, which in actual words means formal is totally cool if you want to go there, but casual is really not."
Not sure if Questlove either never got the memo or simply chose to ignore it. Also, it's unclear if he purchased the Crocs this way, or if he opted for a DIY vibe. Either way, this merger of class and comfort is really the way to go. For those wondering, there's a similar metallic champagne-colored Crocs retailing for $45 at DSW.
Quest wasn't the only one who opted for the comfy look. Chloe Zhao, who snagged the Oscar for Best Director, rocked sneakers with her Hermes gown. Check out the new trend of stylish footwear above.
