Since her breakout roll on Barney & Friends at the age of 10, Selena Gomez has pretty much grown up in the spotlight. And while that certainly comes with its perks, it also comes with downsides. For one, everyone assumes they have the right to involve themselves and speculate about her dating life, even if its non-existent, which, not that it matters, she admits it to be at the moment.

When speaking to the Los Angeles Times in a new interview, Gomez candidly reflected on the attention and social media harassment her co-star and on-screen love interest Aaron Dominguez received after PDA images surfaced of them on set of the upcoming Hulu show, Only Murders in the Building.

Infiltrating his DMs, the faceless trolls came for Dominguez calling him "ugly," and told him to "stay the f*** away from Selena" and that "she deserves better." Ummm, that's aggressive.
While this was a first for Dominguez, who played it cool, making light of the unwanted attention responding with “LOL" and a laughing emoji, Selena, who we wouldn’t suggest is cool with it, is however somewhat used to it. As internet trolls come out from under their keyboard bridge pretty much every time she’s thought to be linked to someone, which she admitted makes it rather impossible for her date.
With Dominguez specifically, Selena expressed, “We had just started working together. I honestly thought, ‘No wonder guys don’t want to date me!’ I think people only care because I’m young, and the older I get the less they’ll care. For now it’s a part of the job that I don’t really like. I’m actually grateful that I’m not involved with anyone right now.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Gomez addressed the photo that came out of her flipping off a paparazzo from that very same day, while working on her show. “Somebody was being disrespectful,” she said. “And I don’t do well with that. Look, I am a very modest person, until you disrespect people. Maybe [it wasn’t] my best moment, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. And I felt very okay with being like… ‘Don’t talk to people that way!’”

Lets not forget, all of this is happening while Selena’s at work. Right, because Gomez and Dominguez aren’t actually together, but they have been shooting the upcoming Hulu comedy in New York City for the past couple months.
Sharing a bit about what we can expect during an Instagram Live last month, Selena said, “the show is actually really fun. It’s kind of a dramedy, so there’s moments that are real and then there are other moments that are complete chaos and hilarious. I’m working with Steve Martin and Martin Short and if you don’t know their work, by the way, they’re pretty amazing people to be around.”
