Shooter took to social media on Father’s Day (6/16) to share the news with fans writing, “Today, on Father’s Day, I wanted to tell you all a short story and also give you some very exciting news.” He then explained the process of moving his father’s music from tapes to digital drives and then to modern drives following his death in 2002.

After sorting through all the music with assistant engineer, Nate Haessly, Jennings is ready to reveal the treasure he’s found by releasing new Waylon Jennings music in 2025, 23 years after his father’s death.

“After reviewing hundreds of reels of tape, Nate and I finally came to the end of all the material,” he wrote of the archives left behind by Waylon. “I am in possession of [a] treasure trove of previously unheard, full band Waylon Jennings multi-track recordings from the ‘70s and early ‘80s and I have began preparing the material to be mixed right here in Snake Mountain on this beautiful 1976 Demedio Custom API console.”

He continued, “These are not demos… you’ve got something to look forward to: There will be new, classic Waylon Jennings music in 2025… stay tuned.”
