When asked where things stand with the biopic we first heard about in 2022, Bud opened up about how things haven't gone exactly as planned. "We kind of scrapped everything. We fired everybody. We started all over. We just weren't happy with the direction things were going. So we have a new team right now that we're working on things," he shared. "Trying to get a more of a Sublime version of the Sublime story."
On himself and his bandmates being executive producers on the film, Gaugh added, "That's why things ain't getting done until they're done the right way. Everybody wants it to be true to the history of Sublime so when it gets done it's gonna be done the right way."
New music is expected sooner than the film, and we got the latest on where the band is at with releasing new music now with Jakob fronting the band. "It's nice we have all these other musicians flying in, Eric and I don't even have to do anything. We just sit there on the toilet and call them and talk to them and tell them what to do. Just kidding. We were in the studio for a week last month and jammed out a bunch of tunes."
"We have some guest artists coming, working on different songs and such, and so, yeah, we do have one song, 'Ensenada,' we're prepping right now for radio release, and the rest of the album we're still working on, so can't give you any date for a release on that, but stay tuned because it's coming in hot."
The band will be spending more time in the studio, playing festivals and having their own Las Vegas festival this summer called Fear and Loathing and Sublime in Las Vegas.
