Rick 'Rockin' Fig' Fignetti, who provided the surf report on KROQ from the mid-80s up until 2010, has passed away from a heart attack at the age of 65.

Fignetti was a staple of Huntington Beach and the owner of Rockin' Fig Surf Headquarters, which has been a mainstay on Main Street since 1992.

Fignetti began doing daily surf reports at 7:20AM on KROQ after taking Poor Man out for surf lessons in the '80s. He was also the voice of competitions like the US Open of Surfing & the National Scholastic Surfing Association National Championship.

Last year amidst the pandemic Huntington Beach hosted a festival in front of his shop to show appreciation to its longevity and to help out shop owners who had been struggling.

RIP Rockin' Fig.
