The end of the original zombie apocalypse is on the horizon.

“The Walking Dead” will come to an end with a super-sized 11th season in late 2022, according to Variety.

Beginning in 2021, the final season will feature 24 episodes and be spread out over the course of two years. AMC is also prepping a third untitled spin-off series featuring fan-favorite characters Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) for 2023.

Prior to any of that, fans will get to view the coronavirus pandemic-delayed 10th season finale on October 4th. It was previously announced that six additional episodes are being filmed and will air as part of the 10th season in 2021.

So as of right now, TWD fans have 31 episodes in their future before the original show signs off for good in 2022.

“We have a lot of thrilling story left to tell on TWD, and then, this end will be a beginning of more Walking Dead — brand new stories and characters, familiar faces and places, new voices, and new mythologies,” said Scott Gimple, chief content officer of "The Walking Dead" universe. “This will be a grand finale that will lead to new premieres. Evolution is upon us. ‘The Walking Dead’ lives.”

The franchise’s third spin-off, “The Walking Dead: World Beyond,” will premiere immediately following "The Walking Dead" on October 4th. One week later, the sixth season of companion series “Fear the Walking Dead” will premiere on October 11th.

In addition, the aftershow “Talking Dead” will continue with host Chris Hardwick and three movies featuring former lead character Scott Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) have yet to be filmed.

Premiering on Halloween 2010, “The Walking Dead” was a breakout hit and at one point was the most-watched show on television, according to Deadline.
