According to Deadline, the new television series, Idol, “follows a female Pop singer who starts a romance with an enigmatic L.A. club owner who is the leader of a secret cult.”

While details surrounding what character the artist, also known as Abel Tesfaye, will play are unknown, what we do know is he is also serving as a co-writer and producer on the project.

Tesfaye created the series alongside Euphoria creator, Sam Levinson and Reza Fahim, who is also serving as co-producer for the project. Additional producers include John Epstein, Ashley Levinson, Kevin Turen, and Aaron L. Gilbert.

Tesfaye took to social media to share news of the upcoming series with fans, who commended his talents and expressed their excitement to see him succeed.

“Already dominating the music industry, so coming to dominate the TV industry too,” one fan praised in the comments section.

“He can sing, rap, write, write shows, co-prodcue and direct shows, donates to charity, is sweet,” added another. “What can’t he do?”

The Idol series won’t be The Weeknd’s first time appearing on a television series. He could most-recently be seen guest starring as an animated version of himself on TBS’ American Dad last year.
