In celebration of the new project, Thomas joined a virtual listening party, hosted by Audacy’s Rob + Holly, to share the full album and answer fan-submitted questions.  With 15 fresh tracks, there was a lot to talk about as Rhett detailed an album he’ll take pride in for many years to come.

“There’s a few [tracks] on this record that are songs that I feel like I’ll be really proud of when I’m 65, you know?” Thomas explained during the virtual hangout. “Angels” tops the list for Rhett, who expressed he was proud to find a new type of love for his catalog.

“The more records you make and the more songs you sing about love, it becomes more challenging to figure out how to say that,” he said. “’Angels,’ to me was a love song dedicated towards my wife [Lauren Akins], but in a way of like, ‘Hey, thanks for putting up with me, you know, for 10 years because it’s not an easy task!’” He laughed.

No surprise, Lauren provided inspiration for a number of tracks on the album, others include “Bass Pro Hat,” and “Bring The Bar To You.”

While always a songwriter inspired by his family, that’s not all that inspired Rhett this go around. He also drew from experiences as heavy as visiting a prison ministry to moments as light as craving an ice cold beer.

“We got off the bus [one day] and I looked at one of my co-writers, Josh, and I was like, ‘Man let’s go grab a bite to eat or something’ and he was like, ‘Man, half of me wants a cold beer and so does the other half!’ I’d never heard that phrase before,” Thomas shared. “We got on the bus wrote the song [“Half Of Me”] and had our buddy, Riley Green, join us on it.”

Riley isn’t the only star to join Rhett for a song on the project. He also gets an assist from buddies Russell Dickerson and Tyler Hubbard [Florida Georgia Line] on the powerful song, “Death Row,” and Pop star, Katy Perry on the title track “Where We Started.”
