LISTEN NOW: Tim McGraw joins Katie Neal for the Superstar Power Hour
McGraw recently joined Audacy’s Katie Neal to reflect on the highlights of his career as well as his current headlining tour, recent acting gigs and the new music he’s working on.
“I’ve always been a competitor, and I’ve always been and athlete so when I jump in, I want to jump on wholeheartedly and give it everything I’ve got,” McGraw said of his approach to everything surrounding his career. “Everything in my career has way exceeded any possible dreams that I could’ve had of what I wanted to do.”
The proof is plain to see as McGraw not only continues to be one of the biggest names in Country music but has also made a name for himself as an actor and he credits it all (and more) to Country music.
“I always say that everything good in my life has come from Country music,” McGraw said. “I wouldn’t have met my wife if it wasn’t for Country music and I wouldn’t have these three, beautiful, strong young women [daughters] that I have in my life without Country music. I wouldn’t have the acting experiences I have without Country music. All the things I’ve gotten to do — gotten to travel the world — I probably wouldn’t be doing that had pursued another career path.”
McGraw plans to continue riding the Country music wave as long as he can while to give it his all along the way. So what’s next for the 55-year-old? Sounds like new music!
“I’m actually in the middle of it,” Tim said of the progress of a new album. “During [filming for] 1883, I was working on the album a little bit when I had some time, and I’ve been working on it since we stopped filming and I’m constantly working on it… We’ll have some new music ‘fore too long.”
Hear more about Tim’s timeline for new music, stories from the set of 1883 and what it was like filming a music video with his daughter by listening to his interview with Katie Neal above.
