While “it’s always been fam” between the trio throughout their time apart, after a hiatus of 25 years, Tony! Toni! Toné! are once again reunited.
“It’s just the perfect time, it’s the perfect storm for us. A lot of people were sampling the music, we love the music, it actually stood the test of time,” the group said of why they decided to give it another go after all this time.
After spending a little time delving into the the groups name, how they settled on it and reminiscing about the memories that came with it, signature haircuts included, Tony! Toni! and Toné! revealed that while they knew at the time they were generating hits that “would stand the test of time” they could “never perceive or see the feeling that we would get from people.”
The group then went on to divulge how they went about putting their Just Me And You Tour together, which they noted “has a good flow from start to finish.” They also shared some thoughts on what Tigger calls “disposable music,” naming Steve Lacy, Daniel Caesar, Thundercat as current artist truly dedicated to their craft.
As for what to expect from their tour, simply put, “expect to go on a journey.” They continued, “from the montage that plays before we even hit the stage, showing where we’re from and to get a little idea of who we are… to the end of it, it’s a journey.”
And while they didn’t offer much, the group confirmed that new Tony! Toni! Toné! music is in the making and headed our way.
