Last night’s VERZUZ was a wonderful celebration of R&B. Musiq Soulchild, Anthony Hamilton, and a ton of special guests performed live for a historic Valentine’s VERZUZ battle.

Musiq Soulchild returned to his neo-soul roots, performing back-to-back hits from the early 2000s era. Meanwhile, Anthony Hamilton delivered southern-influenced classics and contemporary tunes. Jermaine Dupri wears many hats–rapper, producer, songwriter, and disc jockey. Dupri was actually behind the turntables for Anthony Hamilton’s entire VERZUZ set.

Anthony Hamilton had a ton of special guests
Anthony Hamilton performed “Po’ Folks” with Nappy Roots frontman Big V; He sang “Complicated” with Leela James; And lastly, he belted out his new single “Lessons” with Kevin Ross, Raheem DeVaughn and Eric Roberson.

Lucky Daye sings “Over”
Musiq Souchild brought out Lucky Daye onstage to perform his latest single “Over”, which samples the 2002 classic “Halfcrazy.” Lucky Daye showed his gratitude on Twitter afterwards, tweeting “Thank you for having me @MusiqSoulchild #VERZUZ."

Musiq Soulchild closes with “Love” and Anthony Hamilton ends with “Charlene”
The VERZUZ concluded with the R&B legends performing two of their biggest hits. The crowd sang along to Musiq Soulchild’s “Love” and Anthony Hamilton’s “Charlene.” The legendary singers even distributed roses to the audience! Musiq Soulchild ultimately closed the show with “B.U.D.D.Y” as a bonus track.
