After the tweet was picked up by wider readers, some backpedaling was made, and DMX's manager, Steve Rifkind released a statement asking that people give the rapper's family privacy. "Please stop posting these rumors, DMX is still alive," he said in a video message. "Yes, he is still on life support but it is not helping anybody by seeing these false rumors.”
Rifkind also said that X's family will release their own statement "sometime" on Friday.
DMX's family previously asked to "please keep Earl/DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges,” later revealing that the rapper remained in a coma and was on a ventilator.
