The United States' Stockpile of Cheese Just Hit An All-Time High

By Kayla Jardine/Joe Cingrana

The United States' stockpile of cheese just hit an all-time high!

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the United States has amassed its largest stockpile ever since regulators started keeping tabs over 100 years ago -- and this cheese stockpile weighs over 1.3 billion pounds. That's with a 'B.'

Analysts believe it's due to the overproduction of milk, since milk is more easily stored as cheese.

Last year, the U.S. exported 341,000 metric tons to Mexico and China, but some worry that with trade tensions this could affect dairy sales.

One thing's for sure, it's time to get those cheeseburgers on the grill and use up this cheese stockpile!
