Eilish was the host of Saturday Night Live this past weekend, marking the first time she’s had that role. “I spent a lot of years pretending to be somebody that I’m not,” she said during the opening monologue. “Basically, acting.”
“And somebody wise once told me: ‘Billie, you should never, ever act’…that person was my mom!” We’re sure Billie’s mom is proudly second-guessing that advice after her daughter crushed it on SNL this weekend.
Her opening monologue set the tone for the night as Eilish made fun of the puffy candy-cane colored dress she was wearing. “I’m dressed like Mrs. Claus going to the club!” She exclaimed.
Elsewhere in the monologue, Billie gave a hilarious explanation for why she wears baggy clothes. “Some people wonder why I started wearing baggy clothes, and there was actually a good reason. It wasn’t just for comfort or for style,” she said. “This is hard to say for me, but the real reason I wore big oversized clothes back then is I was actually two kids stacked on top of each other trying to sneak into a R-rated movie.”
Eilish also served as the musical guest for the evening as she brought along her brother FINNEAS to perform a pair of stripped-down tracks off her latest record Happier Than Ever.
