“There's a bit of a suburban cult vibe to this gathering.” admits Brian Bell, as he and Rivers Cuomo stopped by the KROQ studios in Los Angeles to announce the tour. “It appears like everything is, you know, normal and suburban, but there's like almost like a legalized, spiritual discovery element to it.”

Weezer: The Gathering, is an arena run with special guests The Shins and Silversun Pickups, kicking off September 8 in Sacramento, CA. Tickets will be available starting with a Citi, Verizon, Mastercard, American Express, and Weezer fan club presale beginning Tuesday, March 31 at 10AM local time. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale beginning Friday, April 3 at 10AM local time at weezer.com.

The band will also celebrate with new music, a still-untitled new album coming soon and the lead single called, “Shine Again,” which is out on April 1. “We're discussing it now,” Rivers admits of the album title, “like cover, title, color, all those things. A lot of discussion.”

“If I may interpret Patrick's lyric, our drummer wrote this song, but It sounds like a confidence in ourselves again and just trusting ourselves as a four piece creative unit and saying the sun is shining within us and to look there for inspiration. “

No stranger to viral moments, the latest for Weezer is their song, “Go Away,” a duet with Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino from their 2014 album, Everything Will Be Alright In The End, which is suddenly averaging around a million streams a day all over the world.

“Totally blown away,” Rivers says of the song having a moment. “I think, me and Bethany came up with this song in 2010 and then it ended up on a Weezer record in 2014. And nothing happened at that time. And then the years go by, we're about to put out a new song, ‘Shine Again,’ and suddenly out of nowhere this one starts going crazy and I never could have predicted it.”

“It's awesome. Not only is it great that this one song has a new life, but it just means in the future, who knows what could happen. Any song from our entire career could take off out of nowhere, and none of us are the cause of it. It's just all the people out there, they decide what they want to hear.”
