Even though we're used to having a great time every chance we get to talk with Country star Dustin Lynch, Audacy's Rob + Holly had the extra pleasure of speaking with him about a brand new album, 2022's Blue In The Sky, as well as his latest single, "Party Mode."
Listen to our chat with Dustin below, and hear more of your favorite music now on Audacy New Country!
"'Party Mode' is a song that came into my life at the perfect time," Dustin explains. "I went through a break-up, got through the weeds, and this song is me. It's like, back out on the town with the boys; there's this huge weight that lifts off of your chest, and it's like, 'OK new beginnings, new chapter, here we go.'"
Believe it or not, Dustin says those close friends that he leans on are all featured in the song's video. "Those are my actual, real-life friends as the lead actors," he explains. Dustin wanted the video to be fun and engaging for his fans, so it follows a wild storyline featuring Dustin getting his bags mixed up with a mobster's during a trip to Florida with his pals. Although, the way Dustin laughed telling the story about getting them all down to the video's filming location could probably have been a video all by itself. "Cornbread, one of my buddies, it was his first time ever being on an airplane," Dustin tells us. "He's so big we had to buy him two seats... we had to buy him two seats to get him down and back!" The plane, he admits, "was definitely smaller than I expected them to get me for a boys' weekend."
"The smaller the plane you get the more you get knocked around," he explains with a laugh, but the next time his pals fly away together, Dustin may be the one at the controls. "I'm actually working on my private pilot license right now. I'm very close to getting my license; I could definitely fly us safely around right now... it's been a long time coming. But I'm hoping to try out for Dierks Bentley's airline, 'Dude Air,' in the next year or so," he jokes.
"Flying a smaller plane opens up so many more airports, the country becomes a lot bigger, a lot more things to do. What really is fueling my quest is, I can get to my farms a lot easier," says Lynch, "and to my shows a lot easier, if I fly there. So, that's what I'm after."
