On Monday’s episode of “Wheel of Fortune,” host Pat Sajak ended with the somber news that he beloved dog, 12-year-old Stella, has passed away.

“We recently had to say goodbye to Stella,” Sajak said according to Yahoo News. “It was a very sad time for the Sajak family.”

The long-time game show host honored his furry friend with a couple of photos of Stella frolicking in the snow and sitting with Sajak, prompting plenty of “aww” reactions from the "Wheel of Fortune" live studio audience.

Longtime co-host Vanna White also pointed out that she has a pet named Stella, although hers is a cat.

Fans on social media were quick to offer the host kind words of support through his difficult time. One fan commented on Twitter saying, "So sad to hear about the passing of Pat’s dog Stella. My condolences are with you, Pat!” Another said, “I don’t usually cry during Wheel of Fortune, but here we are.”

The news of Stella’s passing comes less than a week after Sajak made a heartfelt announcement at the end of an episode of the popular game show. Sajak revealed that his son, Patrick Sajak, graduated from medial school, making him now the father of a doctor.

“So you know my son, Patrick, you’ve known him all his life. Well he’s made it through medical school, and he is now officially Dr. Sajak, and we’re all thrilled.” He then joked that the only “troubling part” of the news is that “he insists that I call him Dr. Sajak.”

In November 2019, Sajak had a health scare of his own after undergoing surgery to correct a block intestine in November 2019. During his absence, White filmed three weeks worth of episodes as the fill-in host before Sajak returned for his first episode back that aired on December 9, 2019.
