LISTEN NOW: Chris Stapleton shares the creative process behind his new single, ‘White Horse’
Originally writing the song to pitch for the film, Lone Ranger, Stapleton says the inspiration came from western movies.
“We started just kind of riffing around and bouncing things off of each other musically until we came up with what felt like something that would fit in a western movie,” Stapleton said of how the song came together. “While the song was not selected to be in the Lone Ranger movie, Stapleton is giving it the chance to stand on its own as he releases it as the lead single off his forthcoming album, Higher.
“It never got used for that movie, but it turned out to be a really cool song, in my opinion.”
He continued, “I hope whenever someone hears ‘White Horse,’ for the first time, I hope that they’re driving somewhere. I really feel like this is a song that kind of makes you drive fast and kinda rock out. Turn your radio up a little too loud.”
“White Horse” is available now. Check out the full tracklist for the forthcoming album, Higher, below.
